EPA DHA are essential fatty acids that the human body cannot produce on its own, so they must be obtained from the diet. In pregnant women, they are essential for the neurological development of the fetus. However, according to studies, they may also be important for the correct timing of pregnancy and the appropriate birth weight of the baby.

The source of DHA and EPA for our products is algae oil. Seaweed is considered the primary source of omega-3. Global fish stocks are declining and cannot be a sustainable source of omega-3 fatty acids. Algae grow very quickly and do not contribute to overfishing, making them a more sustainable source of omega-3 than fish oil, which also carries the risk of chemical contaminants (e.g. mercury) that can be harmful to consumers (source)

Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin of the B group. It is a substance that is essential for the formation of nucleic acids, in hematopoiesis and has an irreplaceable role in the growth and development of the fetus. It plays a role in the process of cell division, supplying tissues with nutrients and oxygen and maintaining healthy blood vessels of the mother and fetus. According to studies, sufficient active form of folic acid in the body during pregnancy can prevent spinal cord defects, insufficient nutrition and development of the fetus or improper blood supply to the placenta.

Folic acid must be converted into an active form after entering the body, which is ensured by the MTHFR enzyme. Women who suffer from a gene mutation for this enzyme may have problems conceiving or carrying a baby to term. In our products, folic acid is contained in an already active methylated form, which means that it does not have to be activated after entering the body and the woman thus has an effective form of the vitamin available. The form and amount of folic acid contained in Verra complex fully ensure sufficient intake for the woman and the fetus throughout the entire pregnancy.

Myo-inositol plays a physiological role in gametogenesis, oocyte (egg) quality, and embryonic development. In humans, it impacts the success of assisted reproduction. Its effects have been extensively studied for its involvement in metabolic syndrome and the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS, one of the most common female endocrine disorders associated with insulin resistance).

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. It participates in the process of cell division and contributes to the normal function of the immune system. It affects calcium metabolism and its intake is important for normal calcium absorption into the bones.

Vitamin D exists in two forms – as ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Both forms are naturally found in food and both effectively increase vitamin D levels in the blood.
