"I am a midwife in the delivery room, a lactation consultant, I lead antenatal preparation, and I offer the services of personal midwives. I do my work with love and respect.

In my free time, I like to read, go to nature, focus on my IG account and relax.

Becoming a midwife was the best decision of my life.” says Barbora Primaková, midwife .

Could you tell me off the top of your head how many births you have already assisted?

Unfortunately, I don't remember that. As midwifery students, we must have performed 40 births. There will definitely be several hundreds. I plan to add it up at the end of the year with the help of a birth record so I can find out for myself. :)

How does it feel for you when everything goes well during childbirth and you help give birth to a healthy baby?

Indescribable! I am happy, a huge stone will fall from my heart, because you never know what can happen during a beautiful birth. I love that "AFTER" feeling when I look at a happy woman holding her baby in her arms and her eyes say "thank you".

When is the right time to contact a midwife?

I would wait until the first trimester and then start looking to find "the one". So ideally as soon as possible!

Do mothers come to you saying they want to give birth at home? Do you recommend this option?

Rather, they don't go, probably because they know that I work in a maternity ward, so they don't ask me about it. If a woman wants to give birth at home, it is her choice, her responsibility. She should know about the risks, certainly not to give birth at home alone, but with someone who is trained to manage births, and she should prepare for a home birth throughout her pregnancy, not change her mind a month before the birth that she wants to give birth at home. High-quality prenatal preparation is also important for a home birth.

Midwife, Barbora Primaková

What is the most powerful experience for you in the whole profession?

I don't think I can remember anything specific. Each birth is different, each one proceeds differently, each woman is special in something different, from each birth I take away something new, some lesson.

Baru, can you tell us when you decided you wanted to be a midwife?

I originally wanted to be a pediatrician or gynecologist, but fate wanted it differently and I didn't get into medicine. As a rescue, I applied for midwifery, but I had no idea what a midwife's qualifications were, what all that would entail.

That gave me an incredible kick in the first year and now I am where I am. :)
