What should a woman think about if she decides to get pregnant? 🤰🏼

Nowadays, the topic of pregnancy and conception is very sensitive. More and more women, including couples 👩‍❤️‍👨, are facing difficulties and their journey to having a baby can be very long. Let's remember what we can do to eliminate as many negative influences as possible that can complicate our lives on the way to the baby 🤱.

First of all, we should pay attention to lifestyle. 🥗A balanced diet, stop smoking 🚬and abstinence from alcohol🍷 is the absolute basis. The body needs strength to give birth to a little miracle. Smoking, alcohol and unhealthy diet 🍟 weakens the female body and affects the natural processes of the organism. This does not only apply to the woman, but of course also to the partner. Involve him in active preparation for the baby.

The supply of nutrients is also related to life management, which ensures the body a complete supply of all micro and macronutrients needed for the successful development of the baby. The composition of Verra Complex💊 is suitable for use already in the process of planning conception, even six months to a year in advance.

Next, focus on regular and natural movement. 🚶‍♀️It will improve your condition, which you will appreciate both during pregnancy and during childbirth.

The next step before conception can be a preventive visit to the dentist, general practitioner 🩺 and gynecologist. Make sure everything is in order. Believe me, during the first trimester, stool drilling is the last thing you want to experience.

If you are healthy and planning your first baby, try not to "count" and "calculate". Our psyche is powerful. 👩‍❤️‍👨 Always take sex as a joy and not as an obligation because you have fertile days.

Your most frequent questions are answered by MUDr. Radka Bažantová:

1) I suffer from the Leiden mutation, what should I watch out for, what examinations should I require and what are the risks?

MD Radka Bažantová: In most cases, pregnancy in women with the Leiden mutation proceeds without major difficulties. There may be a higher risk of miscarriage and other complications such as high blood pressure or premature placental abruption. Therefore, she must be monitored by a specialist (hematologist) throughout pregnancy. It is important to carry out regular checks of blood clotting parameters, and based on the results, the doctor will then prescribe therapy, the blood will be diluted and possible miscarriage will be prevented. This is especially important in the first trimester. Also include regular movement (at least a daily walk), it will prevent swelling of the legs - stagnation of blood in the lower limbs increases the risk of a clot. The date of birth is also monitored, women with the Leiden mutation should not transmit. Regular check-ups with a doctor, a hematologist, then continue even in the sixth trimester.

2) I am breastfeeding and we would like another baby, but so far it is not going well. Ovulation tests come out negative even though I have regular periods.

MD Radka Bažantová: Hormonal changes generally occur after childbirth, progesterone and estrogen levels drop and gonadotropin activity resumes. This starts a normal hormonal cycle, but the hormones responsible for lactation - oxytocin and prolactin - prevent this. Prolactin suppresses the hormone in the brain that stimulates the ovary to ovulate. Breastfeeding can therefore block that ovulation. The higher the amount of prolactin in the body (if you breastfeed regularly and for a long time), the lower the probability of ovulation. Natural mechanisms will then return from solid foods, but even this can take at least 6 weeks. So I would be patient, supplement the necessary nutrients, enjoy the baby and not put pressure on myself.

3) How to influence the implantation of the embryo during IVF (in vitro fertilization)? I have been taking Verra for over a month now.

MD Radka Bažantová: I praise the supplementation of vitamins and micronutrients in the form of Verra Complex and would continue. The time for sufficient supplementation is individual. I would also recommend regular exercise (at least a walk).

4) Is it better to cut down on alcohol completely before getting pregnant? What effect does it have on the pregnancy itself?

MD Radka Bažantová: The overall lifestyle of future parents has an effect on pregnancy. If you eat a varied and balanced diet, exercise regularly, supplement with vitamins and micronutrients, then alcohol should not be a problem in a reasonable amount. I would definitely recommend limiting alcohol when planning a baby. But don't stress about having two glasses of wine in a week.

5) What to suppress the all-day "morning" sickness? Ginger only helps me a little and sometimes…

MD Radka Bažantová: I would try Verra Calm & Comfortable pregnancy. It contains lactobacilli from fermented soy, which positively affect digestion and the immune system of both mother and baby. However, it must be used for at least 2 months.

6) What should I focus on in terms of the female body before pregnancy? (I go for regular dental check-ups and strengthen my pelvic floor)

MD Radka Bažantová : In addition to dental prevention and dental hygiene, as you write, I would recommend visiting your general practitioner, to whom we should all go for a preventive check-up every two years. On the basis of blood tests, apart from general parameters such as blood count - anemia control, inflammatory markers - indicators of inflammation and examination of kidney function, they will also evaluate the values of thyroid hormones. Above all, it is important to have them in order before pregnancy. Glycemia - the level of sugar in the blood - is also evaluated in the laboratory. The doctor will measure the blood pressure and EKG.

By exercising regularly and eating a varied diet with enough fiber, you can maintain regular bowel movements, which can help to reduce problems with internal hemorrhoids. It is also appropriate to supplement the necessary vitamins and micronutrients.

7) Could you please recommend me something to support ovulation?

MD Radka Bažantová: I would recommend a varied menu with a limit on refined sugars and regular exercise (at least walks). As for nutritional supplements, I would recommend Verra Komplex Fertility & Pregnancy with a clear conscience. Contains all important nutrients in an active form with maximum absorbability. It does not contain any allergens and any unnecessary additives that would burden you and the baby in the future.

8) When is a good time to start preparing your body and your partner's body for conception (stop smoking, drinking coffee, alcohol...)

MD Radka Bažantová: It is good to start preparing 3 months before the planned pregnancy. However, I would like to note here that the sooner you stop smoking and limit alcohol (no need for complete abstinence), the better for your health :-).

Many thanks to MUDr. Councilor Bažantová for the great answers and we look forward to seeing you on our Instagram again next time.
