Can I get pregnant during menstruation?

Ovulation is a physiological process defined by the rupture and release of the dominant follicle from the ovary into the fallopian tube. The entire process is regulated by fluctuations in gonadotropic hormone levels (FSH/LH). During ovulation, the egg leaves the ovary and travels through the fallopian tube, where it can be fertilized by sperm. The egg can only survive for 24 hours after ovulation. For this reason, it must meet with sperm during this time in order for pregnancy to occur. It then travels to the uterus.

When having sex during menstruation 🩸, the probability of getting pregnant is very small. There are still a few days left until ovulation. This mainly applies to women who typically have a 28 to 30-day or longer cycle. However, there are exceptions. If a woman has a shorter cycle, for example every 21 to 24 days, this means that ovulation comes earlier in the cycle. Since sperm can survive in the uterus for up to 5 days, if you have sex towards the end of your period and ovulate early, you may conceive 4 or 5 days later.

The chances of getting pregnant during your period are low, but the possibility is there. However, if you're trying to get pregnant 🤰🏻, this is not the best time to have sex.
